Introducing Teams Scheduler

Following the events of 2020, education has become even more of a balancing act, demanding staff juggle their students’ safety with the adoption of new collaboration tools – all while ensuring the best educational experience possible.

Few of us will remember 2020 fondly: the COVID-19 pandemic forced educational establishments to pivot and adapt at break-neck speed, with increased pressure to meet student expectations and obligations.

As a result, many universities and colleges have turned to collaborative solutions such as Microsoft Teams to enable and support remote learning in a blended structure.

Holding onto Normality

A blended approach to teaching has allowed the UK’s universities and colleges to preserve a sense of normality for their students, with batches of students rotating between in-class learning and remote lectures.

While there are clear advantages to such a system – happier students, greater class engagement, and the preservation of safety – scheduling such intricate timetabling changes can be a time-consuming challenge. Suddenly, staff are faced with sending hundreds, if not thousands, of invites to students, some of whom receive calendar invitations not meant for them.

What’s more, with the pandemic continuing and the lockdown situation evolving, a heavier emphasis has been drawn around remaining remote – increasing the amount of work involved.

Introducing Teams Scheduler

In response, we’ve developed Teams Scheduler for Education – the latest offering from our suite of products aimed at enhancing the Microsoft Teams experience.

Teams Scheduler integrates with existing timetabling systems to automate the sending of invitations – differentiating between students of the same name, ensuring only relevant invitations are sent, and preserving the learning experience in environments where mixed learning remains in practice.

As a result, universities and colleges can meet their obligations to deliver a world-class education, while students can stay safe and informed, and academic staff are free to focus on what they do best: passing on their knowledge to the next generation.
